Located since 1868 on the property formerly known as the Fonda Farm, St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center has grown into a 651-bed academic tertiary medical center and state designated Trauma Center. St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center is staffed by nearly 900 Board-certified physicians-many with multiple board certifications, approximately 180 Medical Residents and Fellows, a nursing team that has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as recipients of the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, and an experienced clinical and administrative staff.
As a leading provider of charity care in the state, St. Joseph’s continues to fulfill the Mission, Vision, and Values set forth by its founders and sponsors, the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth.
New construction at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center/St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ, includes construction of a Critical Care Building that will feature new Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments, surgical suites and critical care units, a rooftop helistop, as well as construction of a new lobby with educational conference facilities, and a parking garage. The parking garage will be built by an external organization.
“Demand for services at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center has consistently exceeded capacity,” says McDonald. “This expansion project will allow physicians and staff to provide expanded high quality care in a state-of-the-art facility and demonstrate our continued commitment to responding to the healthcare needs of the community.”

Hotels on hospital campuses are normally very successful and are a great benefit to the hospital, as it adds flexibility to their business model. However, it wasn't long before budget constraints caused the hotel to be eliminated. It was at this point that as a thank you for all that St. Joseph's had done for Medical Missions for Children, Frank Brady the Founder and Chairman of MMC elected to build the hotel for the hospital.
